Tessellation

This morning we created our own tessellation patterns using two or more polygons. It took me a while to complete. It was difficult for me to make a pattern because I have to make the small shape to fit in accurately.

A polygon is a 2D shape and has straight lines.  There a rules : no gaps and no overlaps. We have to pick a vertex around the bigger shape and we have to list from small sides to bigger around the shape. It was difficult for us to work it out but we enjoyed it.

Also she talked about her goals and her achievements and what she did in the 2016 RIO Olympics. I ask her for an autograph. she smiled and she signed it on my book. What inspired me is that she never gives up on her goals and her dreams.

Personification Poem

The wind whistles
The sky is cloudless
Finally a chance for a sun to shine
It made their hair wave from side to side
The wave rumbled and clashed
But in a peaceful sound

Cook Island Language Week

gee.PNG

Today Rm7&8 were in the library to meet the some visitors who were here to tell us about their Cook Island culture. Three of them were members of the Auckland museum. They’ve came in to teach us a little bit of their Cook Island history as well as their culture. They introduced themselves in Cook Island then translated it to english. They told us the tools they used back in the day, the meaning of the vaka ara, niu, etc. What I found very interesting was how they used coconut fibre to make a string that keeps the Vaka together. In Cook Island, they called coconut, “Niu.” We had a competition on who will be the first person/team to complete the vaka wood by tying it up with coconut string. My brother Sini, won the competition. The game was a bit of confusing for them but I’m happy that my brother completed it.  Also there was a drilling competition. The wooden drill was the hardest tool ever to use. Afterall Benjamin successfully won the drilling competition.

Every child has hopes and dreams

Today Room 7&8 had two visitors and that is Julie and Caitlyn from  Everyday theatre. They came and did some drama for us. Caitlyn was with us and she is really funny. We played games, acted out scenes about a family who had relationships. problems.I really enjoyed it! But unfortunately she had to leave approximately 12:34pm. So we got  awarded a badge for giving each character  advice.  We would like to say thank you so much for working with us. Before she left we have to complete the password and the last word is Dreams. We read the it and it says: “Every child has hopes and dreams,”  I think it means that every child should put faith in their dreams.

Matching Metaphors

WALT match metaphors with their meaning in sports and non sports activity.

We had to get into groups of 3 or 4 to match the metaphors. I was with Petuana and Heather. We had to match the metaphors with their meaning in sports and non-sports activities. I found this easy because there were some metaphors I knew the meaning in sports but I didn't use any of  the metaphors in my writing.

Easttle reading

Last term in e asttle reading I got a 3B. But my goal is to reach 4B. But now this Term I got a 4B! I was so happy. My next goal in reading is to get a 4A!

How many goals can I have?

I am inspired by a 14 year old boy, wrote about how many goals can I have. And this is what is wrote...

You can have as many goals as you want as long as you stay focused on your main goal. Perhaps you want to attend a certain college. It is okay to also have a goals of getting an A in  maths or a goal like doing thirty five push-ups. In fact, I recommend having other smaller goals. I actually think it is impossible succeed without smaller goals. You need to have little goals along the way. If your goal is to play NBA, then you can have goals liking making your high-school team or making your college team or starting on your college team. Whatever the large goal is, you should have smaller goals along the way.

Netball with Anne

It was our last session with Anne. So we played netball. It was exciting and I enjoyed seeing people  did funny mistakes in the court. And also I would like to say thank you to Anne for offering us an amazing AMI  dufflebag with netball equipment's, from drink bottles to raincoats.

To play this game you have to pop the balloon that has the right answer. They will give you a hint and you have to complete the rest. For my next learning I want to try a harder level on this game.

Narrative writing

Sunset appeared and Scruffy is taking a bath outside. Miranda sigh, “This is the fifth time I bathed you Scruffy.”  “ARF!” Barked scruffy. Miranda giggled.  Bubbles floating are in the air, Scruffy tried to catch it, but Miranda forced him to sit. “After this Scruffy I am going to dry you up and take you inside.”  But Scruffy didn’t listen. He jumped out of his bathtub and rolled on the grass. Miranda cried. “Nooo Scruffy!!”

Finally, a dog has created a problem.

It was too late. He rolled on the grass and….. Licking it! “Ewww” Miranda looked back. Suddenly a butterfly flying across her head, then  across to Scruffy and landed on  his nose. Scruffy barked, “ARF, ARF!” The butterfly flew away and Scruffy chased the butterfly. The butterfly flew across the muddy puddle. Scruffy knew that the muddy puddle was right in front of him, but he didn’t care. He jumped very far enough to reach the butterfly and… SPLASH! He’s in the mud! Miranda ran up, huffing and puffing, then she look down at Scruffy. “You're in trouble!” Yelled Miranda. Scruffy stared down at the mud, then walked back to his bathtub.

Resolution has finally found.

Miranda followed him and she could tell that Scruffy is very sad. Scruffy hopped in the bathtub. Miranda took the scrubbing and scrub the mud off. She looked at him, Scruffy’s head still down. “I’m sorry I yelled at you Scruffy, it’s for your own good.” Scruffy looked at her, then he looked down again. Mariand smiled at him and said,“I will give you doggy treats after this.” Then Scruffy put both of his paws at the top of Miranda's chest and he licked her face. He was happy. “Okay, okay enough with the sloppy kisses.” Miranda stopped him. Miranda lifted him out of the bath tub and dried him.

After Miranda dride him up, she lifted him and walked inside to the kitchen.  Miranda put him down gave him 4 doggy treats. For second she could barely hear him munching all those treats. Miranda giggled and kissed him on his forehead. “I will never, ever shout or yell at you again Scruffy.

Then their life was good.

How to draw a scatter graph

WALHT draw a scatter graph
Big
312cm
260cm
152cm
184cm
Small
110cm
340cm
209cm
177cm
Medium
100cm
220cm
50cm
90cm

This week I learned how to draw a scatter graph. First, I made 3 different sizes of paper planes. Big,medium and small. I drew a table in my maths book to record the distance that my paper plane flew. I needed to work with a partner. So I worked with Trinity. I picked up 2 measuring tapes and walked outside so we could begin. Trinity started with her big plane first. She didn’t much luck as her plane didn't fly far. So I took a measuring tape and measured the distance of the distance the plane flew in centimeters. It was my turn and I started with my big plane. It went further than Trinitys plane. She picked up the measuring tape and measured the distance of my plane. She said it flew 312 cm. Not bad. After we finished recording the three planes, we plotted our measurements on the graph paper . After that, we draw a line to join as many points a possible.
